Summary:
Now a STARZ® Original Series produced by FremantleMedia North America starring Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, and Pablo Schreiber.
Locked behind bars for three years, Shadow did his time, quietly waiting for the day when he could return to Eagle Point, Indiana. A man no longer scared of what tomorrow might bring, all he wanted was to be with Laura, the wife he deeply loved, and start a new life.
But just days before his release, Laura and Shadow’s best friend are killed in an accident. With his life in pieces and nothing to keep him tethered, Shadow accepts a job from a beguiling stranger he meets on the way home, an enigmatic man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday. A trickster and a rogue, Wednesday seems to know more about Shadow than Shadow does himself.
Life as Wednesday’s bodyguard, driver, and errand boy is far more interesting and dangerous than Shadow ever imagined. Soon Shadow learns that the past never dies . . . and that beneath the placid surface of everyday life a storm is brewing—an epic war for the very soul of America—and that he is standing squarely in its path.

- I have another hour to listen and will get through it....I’d like to have a word counter add the number of “like a” and “as if’s”. Overwhelming use. The vulgarity is high. I have committed to finishing just in a slight hope there is a reason I wasted 21 hours!1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
- I don’t know who could get through this book. Terrible story. Stupid plot. You know what don’t waste your time go cut the grass or go to the dentist. That would be more enjoyable1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
- I really did not like this book. I nearly listened to the whole thing, trying to find a way to like it. I love this narrator, but couldn't even finish the thing. I just didn't care what happened in the end.1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
- Way raunchier than I expected of Neil Gaiman. Good idea. Poorly done.
- Great listen!!
- I was so sad when it was over! Masterful storytelling and amazing narrators. This is one that should be listened to instead of read.
- If you enjoy mythology of any kind this book is a fun story! I had a wonderful time getting into the book!
- A delight to listen to and a fantastic book. Neil never disappoints.
- Neil Gaiman wrote two of my favorite books ever, 'Good Omens' and 'The Graveyard Book'. 'American Gods' has just been added to that list. I was enchanted with Shadow and his mystical adventures through the valley of the Gods. The characters were rich with their own history, be it a God or just plain every day folk. I think if Shadow Moon were a breathing flesh and blood man, I would move heaven and earth to be his women. This book has to be experienced, it cannot be explained in ordinary words. Needless to say, I give this book 5 thumbs up!
- My first audiobook and I loved it! The narration was excellent, the book is really good.
